In these times, we see and hear a lot about equal opportunity. There's equal opportunity housing, non-discrimination laws, equal opportunity employers, etc. Clever as we are, it was God's idea first.
Sin is an equal opportunity destroyer. Christ is an equal opportunity Savior.
(Side Note: That must be understood in the wider context of orthodox biblical doctrine, not implying universal salvation or even that everyone has an equal opportunity to be saved per se with no distinction. The doctrines of God's grace must be considered, especially depravity and election. What I mean to say here will become clear when I cite the Scriptures to make my point. I only mean to convey that there is no distinction between the types of people God will save; there is no partiality with God based on gender, age, race, social standing, etc.)
Exodus 30:15 - "The rich shall not pay more and the poor shall not pay less than the half shekel, when you give the contribution to the LORD to make atonement for yourselves."
Galatians 3:26-28 - "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
